wake up!!! be volunteer

WAKE UP! BE VOLUNTEER is a youth dream which borns to encourage other youths to participate in the volunteering world. We are volunteers and we believe the volunteer task is an enriching experience, which makes us help other people and grow up.

To make this happen we've started with this blog, a tool to show to another youths the benefits of being volunteer, in this way “encouraging you to try it like we do”.

We will also perform two week meetings between two associations. A Spanish one from the city of San Sebastián, KAEBNAI; And a Romanian one from the city of Bucarest, KOMUNITAS. In each of this meetings, we will have the chance to learn and deepen about the tasks of othe local volunteer groups and about their activities, impressions … We will be given the opportunity to approach to diferent volunteering areas to collect information and do interviews. After that we will produce videos for our volunteer's blog so that other youths could meet, visit and approach to other diferent groups or associations which are part of this wonderful volunteering world.

We have a society with a lack of ethical and moral values, susbtituted by some others like the individualism, where everybody just looks for himself, going towards an extreme consumism, with lots of prejudices. This prejudices are driven by the fear and ignorance of the people, having racism, xenophobia and social inequalities as a result of this. The loosing of human values goes with all of this, with this kind of moral problems as a result: injustice, lack of freedom, intolerance and respect.

Because of this situation we need to transmit an enriching experience to the youth people, an active way of social participation, a compromise, a practice to grow up as a person, be part of everything around us … TO BE VOLUNTEER. With this project we want to encourage other youths to get involved in the volunteering. We are volunteers, we believe in the value of being volunteer and we want to encourage other youths to live this experience and to promote the lost values of this society.

Inside this reality we want to produce a change in the perception of the volunteering. We are a group of pedagogues, social educators and students, who are volunteers since many years, during this period we have had de need to change the world more than once.

This year is dedicated to us, the volunteers, and this has boosted us to perform one initiative, in order to make other youths have a beautiful personal-social developing experience.

• The transmission of the idea of volunteering as something enjoyable

• Exchange diferent volunteering experiences form different areas

• Break stereotypes and prejudices, approaching between cultures, understanding the interculturality as something positive

• Publicize how the youths are volunteers in different areas:

• Mutual understanding, offer the context of anoother country, spread the existing reality (combat the phobia and rejection to the gipsy people in the European context)

• Encourage the youth people of our countries (Spain and Romania) to participate in real volunteering experiences

• Promote the reflection about the volunteering
